More people are choosing to go eco-friendly when building their house. Eco-friendly homes are good for the environment and also have many advantages for the homeowner enabling lower utility costs and healthier air quality.

In achieving such a build, this comes very much down to how the house is built and with which materials.

If you’re looking to build an eco friendly property, Atkinson Builders has vast experience in this field.

2 recent projects have included many eco features.

Ground Source Heat Pumps which extract and amplify low grade solar energy stored in small amounts in the ground.

Photovoltaic panels (PV) capture the sun’s energy using photovoltaic cells.  These cells don’t need direct sunlight to work  and can still generate some electricity on a cloudy day.  The cells convert the sunlight into electricity, which can be used to run household appliances and lighting.

Solar Panels are similar to PV panels, however solar panels rely on direct light from the sun, which it absorbs and then converts into electricity.

Rain Water Harvesting Systems which are large tanks that are placed underground which are fed from water from the house roof.  The water can then be used for various needs, these including water for the garden, toilet flushing systems etc.

We are experienced in builds that include ventilation with heat recovery where heat generated in one part of the house is used to warm fresh air being delivered to another.
