This building was showing signs of structural problems and the client became concerned by the deterioration of the building. Atkinson Builders Ltd arranged for a structural engineer to carry out a survey of the building and agreed a programme of structural repair work with the client and Conservation Officer which included strengthening the existing structure with steel work and replacement of the floors.

The building is a Grade II Listed Building which meant that all the work required Listed Building Consent, this was arranged in house and conditions discharged as the work proceeded.
Once the structural work had been carried out the external walls were repaired using matching stone, reinforced joints with stainless steel rods set in epoxy resin and finally pointed in lime mortar.
As the structural work was quite extensive the shop and first floor store room was fully refurbished and painted
and decorated on completion.During the works Atkinson Builders Ltd arranged for the shop business to carry on trading in the local Flea Market.
