The Awards cover a large area of the county, including City of York Council, Craven District Council, East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Harrogate Borough Council and all areas covered by North Yorkshire Building Control Partnership.

This is the sixth year that the event has been held and nominations have been steadily growing year on year.

The LABC Building Excellence Awards celebrate all that’s good in the construction industry. The awards aren’t really about aesthetics, instead they look for other vital elements in the creation of excellent buildings; technical innovation, sustainability and high performance. They also seek the ‘X’ factor special working relationships that produce new or creative solutions.

The key points for submissions are that schemes have to have been overseen by Local Authority Building Control, and these must have been completed in the last 2 years.

Following our success in previous years we have entered four buildings this year in the following categories:

  • Best extension or alteration to an existing home
  • Best refurbishment or extension of a Listed Building
  • Best change of use of an existing building or conversion
  • Best individual new home
  • Best small commercial building
